    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great
    1-3  pleasure in recognizing the Victoria Big League All-Stars team
    1-4  for its impressive showing during the 1994 baseball season; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Victoria Big League All-Stars is a team
    1-6  composed of boys from each high school in Victoria; the boys'
    1-7  extremely successful year highlights the gains that can come
    1-8  from cooperation and unity throughout the city; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, This impressive team won several tournaments that
   1-10  enabled team members to go to the World Series in Fort Lauderdale;
   1-11  they won the District 27 Tournament in Port Lavaca, the Sub-Section
   1-12  Tournament in Karnes City, the Section IV Tournament in San Antonio,
   1-13  the State Tournament in Waco, and the Southern Regional Tournament,
   1-14  from a 13-state area, in Pembroke Pines, Florida; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, In winning these tournaments, the team featured
   1-16  a talented group of young men who displayed the strength and
   1-17  centered approach necessary to capture so many contests; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, For their superb efforts and true championship
   1-19  form these gifted young athletes certainly merit legislative
   1-20  recognition:  Roland Baladez, James Botello, Tim Brouillette,
   1-21  Steve Martinez, Marion Kuykendall, Jr., Bobby Mendieta,
   1-22  Brandon Namken, Brian Scott, Robert Perez, Dedrick Porter,
   1-23  Gabe Sauceda, Dustin Schmidt, Jason Smetters, and Kenny Vontur;
    2-1  and
    2-2        WHEREAS, The officials who inspired them to achieve such
    2-3  athletic feats were Manager Joe Garcia, Coach Curtis Namken,
    2-4  Coach and Scorekeeper Carl Camarillo, and President Tom Scott;
    2-5  and
    2-6        WHEREAS, This memorable team's victories in numerous
    2-7  tournaments and making it all the way to the World Series
    2-8  demonstrates the team's winning spirit, discipline, and courage;
    2-9  now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-11  74th Legislature, hereby commend the Victoria Big League
   2-12  All-Stars on its admirable series of tournament wins and extend
   2-13  congratulations to the coaches and each of the team players; and,
   2-14  be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-16  this noteworthy team as an expression of the high regard of the
   2-17  Texas Senate.
