No. 336 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased and 1-3 proud to recognize JoAnn Griffin Forse who retired after 38 years 1-4 of distinguished service as a pediatric nurse; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Forse has worked at the Children's Clinic in 1-6 Brazosport since 1957; she has enjoyed her career there immensely 1-7 and even turned down the opportunity to become a nurse practitioner 1-8 because she wanted to continue with nursing children; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This memorable lady began her life's work as a 1-10 successful high school student who graduated with honors and 1-11 went to Hotel Dieu Nursing School in El Paso on scholarships; 1-12 and 1-13 WHEREAS, She married Clarence Forse in 1954, and the 1-14 couple enjoyed a happy home life that eventually included three 1-15 sons; she went to work for the late Dr. O. P. Johnson in 1957 1-16 and continued to work for him for the next 27 years; and 1-17 WHEREAS, A woman who loves working with children, JoAnn 1-18 particularly enjoyed cuddling the babies, weighing them, and 1-19 watching them grow up; and 1-20 WHEREAS, In recent years, JoAnn has been helping her former 1-21 patients who have been bringing their own children to see her 1-22 at the clinic; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Nurse Forse has had enough 2-1 energy to work full time, raise her family, assist six doctors 2-2 set up their offices, serve as a trainer for Brazosport College's 2-3 nursing students on a part-time basis, and fill the post of advisor 2-4 to students from the Brazosport Independent School District's Health 2-5 Occupation program; and 2-6 WHEREAS, A woman of deep religious convictions, she has also 2-7 been active in volunteer work at Saint Michael's Catholic Church; 2-8 she has been an active member and past president of the Lake Jackson 2-9 Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and has had a 30-year membership 2-10 in the Marina Bowling League; and 2-11 WHEREAS, JoAnn Forse's last day on the job was on 2-12 January 9, 1995, and the reception given for her retirement was 2-13 held on February 19, 1995; she will be impossible to replace and 2-14 the lives that she touched have been much the richer for her 2-15 lifetime of service; now, therefore, be it 2-16 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-17 74th Legislature, hereby congratulate JoAnn Griffin Forse for her 2-18 superlative career of service and dedication to the children of 2-19 Brazosport and the citizens of Texas; and, be it further 2-20 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-21 as an expression of highest regard and esteem from the Texas Senate 2-22 with best wishes for a rich and rewarding retirement. 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 President of the Senate 2-25 I hereby certify that the above 3-1 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-2 on February 28, 1995. 3-3 ______________________________________ 3-4 Secretary of the Senate 3-5 ______________________________________ 3-6 Member, Texas Senate
