    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly recognizes
    1-3  Reverend Albert Louis Patterson, Jr., for his 25 years of loyal
    1-4  service as Pastor of Mount Corinth Missionary Baptist Church of
    1-5  Houston; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Reverend Patterson became pastor of Mount Corinth
    1-7  Missionary Baptist Church in 1970; his 25th anniversary is being
    1-8  celebrated on Sunday, March 19, 1995; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A graduate of The Adjutant General's School of
   1-10  Communication in Indianapolis, Indiana, Reverend Patterson was
   1-11  recognized in the November, 1993, issue of Ebony Magazine as
   1-12  one of America's greatest preachers and was inducted into Morehouse
   1-13  School of Religion's Hall of Preachers; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, He has preached and lectured at all three National
   1-15  Baptist Conventions, the Billy Graham School of Evangelism, the
   1-16  Southern Baptist Evangelism Conferences, and the Hampton Ministers'
   1-17  Institute; he has conducted citywide revivals in such locations as
   1-18  San Francisco, Brooklyn, Birmingham, and Saint Louis; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, During Reverend Patterson's tenure, Mount Corinth
   1-20  Missionary Baptist Church has been marked by remarkable
   1-21  congregational vitality and has established an unparalleled
   1-22  outreach program; the Vacation Bible School has averaged over
   1-23  1,000 registrants per year; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, The Outreach Ministry has been active with a
    2-2  prison program and with a drug rehabilitation center; the church
    2-3  also provides school supplies, individual tutoring, and clothes
    2-4  for students in need at an elementary school, a middle school,
    2-5  and a high school; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, Over the years, Reverend Patterson has ministered
    2-7  faithfully to the physical and spiritual needs of innumerable
    2-8  Christians; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, Under his outstanding leadership, the Mount Corinth
   2-10  Missionary Baptist Church has provided enlightenment, hope, and
   2-11  support to the Houston community; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-13  74th Legislature, hereby join the members of Mount Corinth
   2-14  Missionary Baptist Church in commending Reverend Patterson for his
   2-15  fervent service to his church, his fellowman, and his community;
   2-16  and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
   2-18  as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
