No. 353 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, On March 7, 1995, Seagoville Day will be celebrated 1-3 at the State Capitol by the proud citizens of Seagoville in 1-4 recognition of their illustrious town and its contributions to 1-5 the State of Texas; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Founded in 1876, the town was originally named 1-7 Seago after T. K. Seago, the gentleman who cleared his land of 1-8 timber and built the first store in town; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The first official plat of the city was recorded 1-10 in the Dallas County Deed Records in 1883; in 1910, the post 1-11 office added the "Ville" to Seago and the name became officially 1-12 Seagoville; and 1-13 WHEREAS, The town was founded in the middle of the 1-14 blackland soil and was perfect for agricultural use; today, 1-15 lots for residences and businesses are reasonably priced; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The inhabitants of this bustling little town are 1-17 proud of their small town atmosphere and of having access to 1-18 all the cultural and sports activities and advantages of the 1-19 Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex; and 1-20 WHEREAS, "Home of the Post Oak Preserve," Seagoville has 1-21 seven parks, tennis facilities, a public swimming pool, a senior 1-22 citizen's center, and two youth centers; nearby is Lake Ray Hubbard 1-23 which offers 22,745 acres for fishing, water sports, or plain 2-1 relaxation; and 2-2 WHEREAS, The residents of Seagoville are understandably 2-3 proud of their town and its surroundings; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-5 74th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the citizens of 2-6 Seagoville for an outstanding Seagoville Day; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-8 the City of Seagoville as a memento of this special day and as an 2-9 expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate. 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the above 2-13 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-14 on March 7, 1995. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Member, Texas Senate
