    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Reverend Dairy G. Johnson, Sr., is celebrating the
    1-3  grand occasion of his 10th anniversary as pastor of the Bethlehem
    1-4  Missionary Baptist Church in Corsicana, Texas; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The beloved pastor has faithfully served the members
    1-6  of the congregation over the years and will be honored at a special
    1-7  service for his devotion to the ministry on April 9, 1995; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A native of the City of Corsicana, Reverend Johnson
    1-9  graduated from Corsicana High School in 1970 and was an honor
   1-10  graduate of Navarro College with an associate of applied science
   1-11  degree in offset printing; he continued his studies at Southern
   1-12  Bible Institute of Dallas, where he was presented the Dean's Award
   1-13  for Outstanding Student in 1987; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The highly educated minister is also a graduate
   1-15  of the National Missionary Sunday School Baptist Training Union
   1-16  Congress and holds a master of theology degree from Guadalupe
   1-17  College Theological Seminary; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, He has worked tirelessly in the community as a
   1-19  member of various civic boards and is publisher of the Minority
   1-20  News paper which won an award in 1992 from the Texas Publishers
   1-21  Association; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, In addition to his pastoral duties, Reverend Johnson
   1-23  is serving his fourth term as president of the Interdenominational
    2-1  Ministerial Alliance of Navarro County and holds offices in the
    2-2  Rising Star Institutional Missionary Baptist General Association;
    2-3  he is active in the area youth conventions of the Missionary
    2-4  Baptist General Convention of Texas and the National Missionary
    2-5  Baptist Convention of America; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, A man full of compassion and Christian charity,
    2-7  Reverend Johnson has helped ease racial tensions in the community
    2-8  during the last several years; he was awarded the Humanitarian
    2-9  Award in 1991 by the TDMA; and
   2-10        WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Reverend Johnson has been
   2-11  supported by the love and companionship of his wife, Ellender, and
   2-12  their four children, Tiffany, Elizabeth, Dairy, and Jeremy; now,
   2-13  therefore, be it
   2-14        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-15  74th Legislature, extend congratulations to Reverend Dairy G. Johnson
   2-16  as he commemorates the 10th anniversary of his ministry to the
   2-17  congregation of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and extend best
   2-18  wishes to him for continued success in the years ahead; and, be it
   2-19  further
   2-20        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
   2-21  as an expression of the admiration of the Texas Senate.
