No. 368 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to join 1-3 Woodcrest Elementary School in the Port Neches-Groves Independent 1-4 School District in observing the month of March as "Music in Our 1-5 Schools Month"; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The contribution that music makes to any civilization 1-7 is incalculable, and the study of music is one of the privileges of 1-8 a learned society; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The great composers of the past and present have 1-10 brought boundless joy to countless people; few cannot be stirred 1-11 by a Mozart concerto or uplifted by a rousing mazurka; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The appreciation of fine music is a gift that will 1-13 continue to bring pleasure throughout a lifetime; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The public school system in Texas is fortunate to 1-15 include the study of music in its elementary schools; our children 1-16 should be encouraged to learn the sounds of various instruments and 1-17 recognize a wide variety of musical compositions; now, therefore, 1-18 be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-20 74th Legislature, hereby recognize March as "Music in Our 1-21 Schools Month" and encourage schools to expose our children to 1-22 the beauty of music; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-1 Woodcrest Elementary School as an expression of the high regard 2-2 of the Texas Senate. 2-3 ______________________________________ 2-4 President of the Senate 2-5 I hereby certify that the above 2-6 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-7 on March 8, 1995. 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 Secretary of the Senate 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 Member, Texas Senate
