    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  extend congratulations to Morris Shapiro on the grand occasion of
    1-4  his 70th birthday; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The son of Ike and Fannie Shapiro, Morris was born
    1-6  in Coleman, Texas, on March 12, 1925, and graduated from San Saba
    1-7  High School before attending The University of Texas; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A highly successful businessman, Morris Shapiro has
    1-9  owned Austin Metal and Iron Company, Incorporated, and Austin Pipe
   1-10  and Supply Company for over 45 years; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, On October 12, 1947, Morris Shapiro was united in
   1-12  marriage to Elaine Novy of Austin and the devoted couple recently
   1-13  celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Mr. Shapiro is understandably proud of the
   1-15  achievements of his four sons, Bobby Shapiro, Dr. Ira Shapiro,
   1-16  Dr. Mike Shapiro, and Dr. Jay Shapiro, who are all graduates of
   1-17  Austin public schools and state universities; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, His greatest pleasure is enjoying his 15
   1-19  grandchildren who visit often in his home where he and Elaine have
   1-20  lived for over 30 years; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, In those rare times when Mr. Shapiro is not working
   1-22  or participating in family activities, he enjoys all sports and
   1-23  takes an active role in politics at all levels; he is currently
    2-1  chairman of the Travis County Appraisal District; now, therefore,
    2-2  be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-4  74th Legislature, hereby recognize Morris Shapiro as a treasured
    2-5  citizen of his town and state, wishing him many more years of
    2-6  health and happiness; and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be presented to him
    2-8  as a memento of this special milestone in his life.
