    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                       John Albert Villanueva II
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
    1-6  of Corpus Christi in mourning the loss of respected police officer
    1-7  John Albert Villanueva II who died March 6, 1995; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A native son of Texas, Officer Villanueva was born
    1-9  in Corpus Christi on May 14, 1939; a graduate of Miller High
   1-10  School, he joined the Corpus Christi Police Department on
   1-11  May 1, 1972; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Always striving to do his best on behalf of his
   1-13  fellow citizens, John A. Villanueva was promoted to Sergeant on
   1-14  August 23, 1982; during his 23 years as a police officer, he
   1-15  became noted for his unimpeachable character and high moral
   1-16  standards; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Whether as a member of the Uniform Division or the
   1-18  Criminal Investigation Division, Officer Villanueva was a true
   1-19  professional who won accolades from his colleagues and supervisors
   1-20  for his hard work and devotion to duty; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous letters of appreciation
   1-22  from people he had helped, Officer Villanueva was named Officer of
   1-23  the Year in 1991 by the Knights of Columbus; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, he was a member of Most Precious
    2-2  Blood Catholic Church; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Throughout his life, John Villanueva brought joy
    2-4  into the hearts of his family and friends and enriched their lives;
    2-5  and
    2-6        WHEREAS, Few have dedicated themselves so thoroughly to the
    2-7  welfare of their fellowman as did John A. Villanueva, and his loss
    2-8  will be deeply felt by the citizens of Corpus Christi; now,
    2-9  therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-11  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family
   2-12  of John Albert Villanueva II:  his sons, John Albert Villanueva III,
   2-13  James Allen Villanueva, and Joseph Adam Villanueva; his daughters,
   2-14  Lucy Marie Montez and Lorie Marie Villanueva; and his four
   2-15  grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-17  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-18  Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-19  in memory of John A. Villanueva II.
