No. 381 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in 1-3 recognizing Esther Weir who has been selected for the Citizen of 1-4 the Year Award by the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Esther Weir is well known for her outstanding work 1-6 in the Georgetown community; and 1-7 WHEREAS, A dedicated volunteer for 56 years, she is an 1-8 active member of the Georgetown Heritage Society and the Downtown 1-9 Georgetown Association; and 1-10 WHEREAS, A highly respected leader who generously devotes 1-11 time and energy to civic affairs, she chaired the Georgetown 1-12 Sesquicentennial Committee and was one of the creators of the 1-13 Christmas Stroll and the Southwestern University Tea Dance; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Esther Weir's concern for others is legendary, and 1-15 she has played a major role in the betterment of the Georgetown 1-16 community; and 1-17 WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, Mrs. Weir is a source of strength 1-18 to many, and her worthy accomplishments reflect her dedication 1-19 and her commitment to her fellowman; now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-21 74th Legislature, hereby commend Esther Weir on her exceptional 1-22 achievements and extend congratulations to her on her selection 1-23 as Citizen of the Year; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-2 her as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-3 ______________________________________ 2-4 President of the Senate 2-5 I hereby certify that the above 2-6 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-7 on March 9, 1995. 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 Secretary of the Senate 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 Member, Texas Senate
