No. 382 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Glenn Everett Welch 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens 1-6 of Crockett and Latexo in mourning the loss of Glenn Everett Welch 1-7 who died February 9, 1995; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Born April 29, 1920, in Crockett, Glenn Welch 1-9 attended the Pythian Home School in Weatherford, Texas, where he 1-10 was salutatorian; he completed a business course at Tyler Commercial 1-11 College and attended College Training Detachment at Arizona State 1-12 University with the United States Air Force; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Mr. Welch was dedicated to his work as the manager 1-14 of Traylor's Department Store in Crockett for 27 years; he also 1-15 served as District Clerk of Houston County for 12 years; and 1-16 WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Glenn Welch was respected 1-17 in the community for his many accomplishments; and 1-18 WHEREAS, A well-known civic leader, he was a past president 1-19 of the Jaycees, a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge, and 1-20 chairman of the Latexo Community Council when Latexo placed third 1-21 in the Community Improvement Contest and when the community was 1-22 judged number one in the state in 1975; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Glenn Welch was selected to represent Houston County 2-1 on the Greater East Texas Health Systems Agency and was a chairman 2-2 of the Nominating and Redistricting Committee for the Consolidated 2-3 Water Supply Corporation; and 2-4 WHEREAS, He was active in scouting for much of his life and 2-5 served on the Commissioners Staff and Troop Committee for 15 years; 2-6 he was one of the founders of the State 4-H Volunteer Adult Leaders 2-7 Association and served as a state delegate; he received the 4-H 2-8 club's Silver Clover Award in 1975; and 2-9 WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he 2-10 gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, 2-11 and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; 2-12 and 2-13 WHEREAS, Glenn Welch was a devoted husband, father, and 2-14 grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured 2-15 forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it 2-16 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-17 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-18 bereaved family of Glenn Everett Welch: his wife, Irene Welch; 2-19 his sons, John Welch and George Welch; his sister, Verne Ferguson; 2-20 and his three grandchildren; and, be it further 2-21 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-22 members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the 2-23 Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so 2-24 in memory of Glenn Welch. 2-25 ______________________________________ 3-1 President of the Senate 3-2 I hereby certify that the above 3-3 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-4 on March 9, 1995, by a rising vote. 3-5 ______________________________________ 3-6 Secretary of the Senate 3-7 ______________________________________ 3-8 Member, Texas Senate
