    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The citizens of Georgetown will miss the dedicated
    1-3  service of Chief Deputy Floyd Hacker who retired from the
    1-4  Williamson County Sheriff's Department on February 17, 1995; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, His illustrious career spanned 39 years in law
    1-6  enforcement and covered a broad range of duties that included
    1-7  investigating organized crime, narcotics rings, and subversive
    1-8  communist groups for the Texas Department of Public Safety; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Although officially retired, Mr. Hacker joined the
   1-10  Williamson County Sheriff's Department as chief deputy in 1993
   1-11  to help his longtime friend, Ed Richards, reorganize the department
   1-12  when Mr. Richards was appointed sheriff; the experienced peace
   1-13  officer soon earned the trust and confidence of the citizens of
   1-14  Williamson County; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Floyd Hacker spent 30 years as a Department of Public
   1-16  Safety officer and was chief of criminal law enforcement in Austin
   1-17  for a time; after retiring in 1987, he reentered law enforcement to
   1-18  direct the 15-campus University of Texas police force for six years;
   1-19  and
   1-20        WHEREAS, His integrity and faithfulness to his duties are well
   1-21  known throughout the state; the citizens of Texas are indeed
   1-22  fortunate to have had such an able and hardworking public servant
   1-23  in the Department of Public Safety; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, His retirement will give Mr. Hacker the long-awaited
    2-2  opportunity to spend time traveling with his wife, Linda, in their
    2-3  travel trailer seeing the country and to do consultation work for
    2-4  Williamson County; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby commend Chief Deputy Floyd Hacker for
    2-7  his notable contributions to the Williamson County Sheriff's
    2-8  Department, the Department of Public Safety, and to the people
    2-9  of Texas; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be presented to him as
   2-11  an expression of the deep respect and gratitude of the Texas Senate.
