No. 388 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, It is a distinct pleasure for the Texas Senate to 1-3 recognize Walter Wilcox of Bryan on the occasion of his retirement 1-4 December 31, 1994, as county commissioner for Precinct 2 of Brazos 1-5 County; and 1-6 WHEREAS, During his six terms of office, the popular 1-7 commissioner worked effectively to provide necessary leadership 1-8 for citizens throughout the county; he championed the adoption 1-9 of subdivision regulations that set standards for developers, 1-10 increased the county's right-of-way along county roads, and 1-11 volunteered his time for numerous causes; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mr. Wilcox has been involved in welcome changes 1-13 during his 24 years in office including the building of the Brazos 1-14 Center, construction of the major addition to the courthouse, and 1-15 construction of the county's pavilion and rodeo arena; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A former chairman of the state association of Big 1-17 8 Resource Conservation and Development, Mr. Wilcox has continued 1-18 his volunteer work since his retirement; he has previously held 1-19 various positions in the Big 8 Resource Conservation and 1-20 Development organization that is a part of the federal Natural 1-21 Resources Conservation Service; and 1-22 WHEREAS, His interest in the youth of the county is 1-23 apparent in his volunteer activities; he works with members 2-1 of the Brazos County Youth Livestock Association and helps put 2-2 on their show each year; for the past 30 years he has sponsored 2-3 a Little League team; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Recognized for his honesty and integrity and his 2-5 ability to work well with people, Walter Wilcox has earned the 2-6 respect and appreciation of the citizens of Brazos County; now, 2-7 therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 74th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to Walter Wilcox for 2-10 a most rewarding and enjoyable retirement; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him 2-12 as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 President of the Senate 2-15 I hereby certify that the above 2-16 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-17 on March 9, 1995. 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Secretary of the Senate 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Member, Texas Senate
