No. 390 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, Birthdays are occasions to be joyously celebrated, 1-3 and so it was for Else Kelm of Cameron, Texas, on New Year's Day, 1-4 1995, when she was the guest of honor on her special day; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This being her 100th birthday, Else has been 1-6 privileged to witness events most of us only read about in history 1-7 books; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Else was one of five children born to Otto J. and 1-9 Minnie Kelm and lived on a farm near Ben Arnold; she is the first 1-10 person in her family to reach the age of 100; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The blessings of her long sojourn in this world are 1-12 evident as she recalls tales of years past; Miss Kelm has earned 1-13 respect and friendship from all who know her; and 1-14 WHEREAS, A vital member of her community, she is noted for 1-15 her exemplary enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Friends and relatives of this beloved individual 1-17 gathered at the Ben Arnold United Church of Christ to honor her 1-18 in a manner befitting the event; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-20 74th Legislature, hereby recognize Miss Else Kelm as a treasured 1-21 citizen of her town and state, wishing her many more years of 1-22 health and happiness; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to her as 2-1 a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-2 ______________________________________ 2-3 President of the Senate 2-4 I hereby certify that the above 2-5 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-6 on March 9, 1995. 2-7 ______________________________________ 2-8 Secretary of the Senate 2-9 ______________________________________ 2-10 Member, Texas Senate
