No. 394 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, Birthdays are occasions to be joyously celebrated, 1-3 and so it was for the Reverend Riley Blocker of Hearne, Texas, on 1-4 January 3, 1995, when he was the guest of honor on his special day; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, This being his 104th birthday, he has been privileged 1-7 to witness events most of us only read about in history books; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The blessings of his long sojourn in this world are 1-9 evident as he recalls tales of years past; Reverend Blocker has 1-10 earned respect and friendship from all who know him; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Still an active and vital member of his community, 1-12 he is noted for his exemplary enthusiasm for living each day to 1-13 the fullest; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Friends and relatives of this beloved pastor gathered 1-15 on January 12, 1995, to honor him in a manner befitting the event; 1-16 now, therefore, be it 1-17 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-18 74th Legislature, hereby recognize Reverend Riley Blocker as a 1-19 treasured citizen of his town and state, wishing him many more 1-20 years of health and happiness; and, be it further 1-21 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to him as a 1-22 token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 1-23 ______________________________________ 2-1 President of the Senate 2-2 I hereby certify that the above 2-3 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-4 on March 9, 1995. 2-5 ______________________________________ 2-6 Secretary of the Senate 2-7 ______________________________________ 2-8 Member, Texas Senate
