No. 396 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-3 recognize Jerry Teague who has recently retired from the position 1-4 of manager of GTE's Crockett operations after 31 years in the 1-5 telephone industry; and 1-6 WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman attended Howard Payne 1-7 University and earned a degree in business management from Tarleton 1-8 State University; he has also participated in special postgraduate 1-9 business seminars; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Mr. Teague accepted a position with GTE in 1963 as 1-11 a field engineer in Irving and became a test and dispatch foreman 1-12 and a test and assignment superintendent; and 1-13 WHEREAS, In 1972, he joined Contel of Texas and in 1980 1-14 was named district manager for customer service in Crockett; as 1-15 manager he was responsible for operations covering 78 communities 1-16 and about 140,000 customers; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Mr. Teague says he will enjoy a slower pace of 1-18 life for a while, but then he intends to get involved in the 1-19 telecommunications industry that fascinates him due to the pace 1-20 of technological changes taking place; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Jerry Teague has enjoyed the 1-22 love and support of his charming wife, Judy, and their daughter, 1-23 Athie; and 2-1 WHEREAS, He has been active in community service and is 2-2 a director of the Houston County Chamber of Commerce and 2-3 vice-president of the Houston County Economic Development 2-4 Commission; and 2-5 WHEREAS, The varied and notable achievements of Jerry Teague 2-6 have contributed greatly to the growth and progress of his community 2-7 and state; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 74th Legislature, hereby congratulate Jerry Teague on his 2-10 retirement from GTE; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him 2-12 as an expression of highest regard from the Texas Senate with best 2-13 wishes for a rich and rewarding retirement. 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 President of the Senate 2-16 I hereby certify that the above 2-17 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-18 on March 9, 1995. 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Secretary of the Senate 2-21 ______________________________________ 2-22 Member, Texas Senate
