    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  recognize the members of the Academic Decathlon Team from Sinton
    1-4  High School who recently won first place in the small schools
    1-5  division of the Academic Decathlon for the first time in the
    1-6  school's history; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, The Sinton students outscored the second-place
    1-8  winner by more than 2,000 points; the members of the team worked
    1-9  extremely hard in order to win this competition; their investment
   1-10  in time and energy was rewarded with this championship win; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, The competitors on the team began the school year in
   1-12  an academic decathlon class; just before Christmas, the nine-member
   1-13  team was selected; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, After the team selection, the team members began to
   1-15  prepare; they started a grueling schedule of three hours of daily
   1-16  study sessions, weekend work, and extra assignments; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Five faculty members coached the team; they were
   1-18  head coach Linda Dietz, Maggie Gibson, Mary Conners, Kathy Hendrick,
   1-19  and Gene Kasprzyk; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Exhibiting perseverance and hard work throughout the
   1-21  season, the members of the team and the coaches deserve to be proud
   1-22  of their efforts and outstanding performance; now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-1  74th Legislature, hereby join the faculty, staff, and students of
    2-2  Sinton High School in expressing congratulations to the team members
    2-3  and the coaches on winning first place and bringing honor to the
    2-4  school and the community; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
    2-6  school as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
