    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to recognize
    1-3  Montgomery County on the illustrious occasion of Montgomery County
    1-4  Chambers of Commerce Day which is being celebrated on March 14, 1995;
    1-5  and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Situated immediately to the northwest of Harris
    1-7  County, Montgomery County offers many opportunities for sightseeing
    1-8  and recreation that include hiking, camping, and boating in the
    1-9  Sam Houston National Forest; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Towering pines, rolling hills, and woodland lakes
   1-11  are all available to residents or visitors who seek gorgeous views
   1-12  and pleasant drives; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Created from Washington County and organized in 1837,
   1-14  Montgomery County was named for the United States Revolutionary War
   1-15  hero, General Richard Montgomery; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, The town of Conroe is the county seat and boasts of
   1-17  several historic areas that are well marked; the Heritage Museum
   1-18  of Montgomery County has a fascinating collection of Texana located
   1-19  in the beautifully restored home of a pioneer family; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, A restored vaudeville theater built in 1934, the
   1-21  Crighton Theatre is home to a variety of stage plays, music
   1-22  performances, opera, ballet, and special events; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Blessed with rich loam and sandy soil, the county
    2-1  supports the raising of horses, cattle, nursery, and greenhouse
    2-2  products; different kinds of forage grow well here; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Oil and gas are still produced in the Conroe Oil
    2-4  Field southeast of Conroe, and a substantial income is generated
    2-5  from the timber industry; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, The inhabitants of Montgomery County are
    2-7  understandably proud of their vital and productive region of Texas;
    2-8  and
    2-9        WHEREAS, This charming area has as its greatest asset its
   2-10  citizenry; the residents of the county have made the county a
   2-11  place that is certainly deserving of legislative recognition; now,
   2-12  therefore, be it
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-14  74th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the Montgomery County
   2-15  Area Chambers of Commerce for a most enjoyable Montgomery County Day;
   2-16  and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-18  Montgomery County in recognition of this momentous event and as an
   2-19  expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
