    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           William E. Kelley
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
    1-6  of Odessa in mourning the loss of William E. Kelley who died
    1-7  February 11, 1995, at the age of 91; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born September 15, 1903, in Burns City, William Kelley
    1-9  married Lela C. Cole on July 1, 1931; he served as a captain in the
   1-10  Texas State Guard during World War II; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley was dedicated to his work as an accountant
   1-12  for the Texas State Highway Department for over 40 years; he retired
   1-13  in 1968; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A man of many talents and interests, William Kelley
   1-15  served as treasurer for the Permian Basin Historical Society and
   1-16  was a member of the local genealogical society; he was also a ham
   1-17  radio operator; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Mr. Kelley was respected in
   1-19  the community for his accomplishments; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, He gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his
   1-21  wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those
   1-22  who knew him; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, William Kelley was a devoted husband, father, and
    2-1  grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
    2-2  forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-4  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-5  bereaved family of William E. Kelley:  his wife, Lela C. Kelley;
    2-6  his son, William C. Kelley; his daughters, Mary Ussery and
    2-7  Elizabeth Smith; his brother, Dr. J. Charles Kelley; his sister,
    2-8  Edith Salyer; and his six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren;
    2-9  and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-11  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
   2-12  the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it
   2-13  do so in memory of William Kelley.
