    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                             Sarah Thomas
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Texas Senate joins the citizens of Plainview in
    1-6  mourning the loss of Sarah Thomas who died February 1, 1995; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Born on February 25, 1920, in Animus City, Colorado,
    1-8  she grew up in Huntington, West Virginia, and graduated from
    1-9  Marshall University in 1940 with a bachelor's degree in music; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Sarah King graduated from Julliard School of Music
   1-11  in 1943; she married Louis N. Thomas on August 25, 1944, and she
   1-12  taught music in several different cities before finally settling
   1-13  in Plainview in 1962; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A remarkably gifted musician, she was choir director
   1-15  for Saint Mark's Episcopal Church for 27 years; she was an active
   1-16  member of her church and a member of Saint Mary's Altar Guild; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Mrs. Thomas was a member of Chapter CZ of PEO, the
   1-18  Plainview Symphony Guild, and the Opera Guild; she had also taught
   1-19  voice for several years; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Her gifts will continue to live in the hearts and
   1-21  minds of her loved ones and her many friends, and her memory will
   1-22  be preserved in the contributions she made to the lives of others;
   1-23  now, therefore, be it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-2  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
    2-3  of her family:  her husband, Louis N. Thomas; her sons, Tom Thomas
    2-4  and Mike Thomas; and her five grandchildren; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
    2-6  members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
    2-7  the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,
    2-8  it do so in memory of Sarah Thomas.
