    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  recognize Jennie Cox Teele on the momentous occasion of her 100th
    1-4  birthday; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Born April 14, 1895, she was the daughter of
    1-6  James Felix Cox and Sarah Burkhalter Cox; she was one of 12
    1-7  children; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, The Cox family moved to Glasscock County in
    1-9  1906 and brought the first sheep to the county; Jennie attended
   1-10  a one-room country school for three years; when her family moved
   1-11  to Garden City, she attended the school there; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, An intelligent and spirited young woman, Jennie
   1-13  went to work in a mercantile store when she was 18 years old; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, She had been dating Edward Teele for several years
   1-15  before they married in 1915; together they formed a strong and
   1-16  enduring partnership; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Teele loved ranching and raised
   1-18  registered Herefords and sheep; they were always well known for
   1-19  their registered Hereford calves; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, A woman of deep religious conviction, she belongs
   1-21  to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Mrs. Teele has always been active in different
   1-23  organizations and is a life member of the Eastern Star; she enjoys
    2-1  china painting and loves visiting with her nieces and nephews; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, On April 15, 1995, a celebration will be held
    2-3  honoring Jennie Cox Teele on her 100th birthday; members of the Cox
    2-4  family will be present to honor her; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby proclaim Jennie Cox Teele a treasured
    2-7  citizen of her town and state and wish her continued health and
    2-8  happiness; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
   2-10  as a memento of this grand occasion and as an expression of the
   2-11  highest regard of the Texas Senate.
