By: Montford S.R. No. 446 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great pride 1-3 in recognizing Tammy D. Barnes Fedynich, who has been selected as 1-4 the recipient of a 1995 Women of Excellence Award; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The Women of Excellence Awards are sponsored by the 1-6 Young Women's Christian Association and are designed to honor women 1-7 who have made exceptional contributions to the Lubbock community; and 1-8 WHEREAS, An accomplished musician, Tammy D. Barnes Fedynich 1-9 is well known as an educator and is band director at Mackenzie Junior 1-10 High School; and 1-11 WHEREAS, She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees 1-12 in music at Texas Tech University and was named Outstanding Tech 1-13 Musician in 1982 and 1983; she was also a finalist for a Fulbright 1-14 Scholarship to Vienna in 1985; and 1-15 WHEREAS, During Mrs. Fedynich's six-year tenure with the band 1-16 program at Mackenzie Junior High School, the band has grown from 60 1-17 students to more than 300; she has also created auxiliary bands, 1-18 such as the Drum Line and the Jazz Line; and 1-19 WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished lady, Tammy Fedynich 1-20 is a highly respected leader in the Lubbock community, and through 1-21 her exceptional talent and generosity, she has touched the lives of 1-22 many; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 74th Legislature, hereby commend Tammy D.
