    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great
    1-3  pride in recognizing Dr. Marian Solowy Myers, who has been
    1-4  selected as the recipient of a 1995 Women of Excellence Award;
    1-5  and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The Women of Excellence Awards are sponsored by
    1-7  the Young Women's Christian Association and are designed to honor
    1-8  women who have made exceptional contributions to the Lubbock
    1-9  community; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Dr. Marian Myers is well known for her outstanding
   1-11  work as an associate professor of pediatrics in the obstetrics
   1-12  and gynecology department at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center;
   1-13  the director of Neonatology at the School of Medicine, she has
   1-14  saved the lives of countless premature and sick newborns through
   1-15  her dedication and expertise; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Dr. Myers has authored many articles and is active
   1-17  in research; due to her hard work and leadership, the Neonatology
   1-18  Unit at University Medical Center is being recognized as a
   1-19  first-rate unit; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished lady, Dr. Myers is
   1-21  a highly respected leader in the Lubbock community, and through
   1-22  her exceptional talent and generosity, she touches the lives of
   1-23  many; now, therefore, be it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-2  74th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Marian Myers on her superior
    2-3  achievements and extend congratulations to her on earning a 1995
    2-4  Women of Excellence Award; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-6  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
