    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           John B. Campbell
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas was saddened
    1-6  to learn of the recent death of John B. "Jack" Campbell on
    1-7  December 20, 1994, at the age of 72; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born on October 11, 1922, in Nowata, Oklahoma, he
    1-9  married Dorothy Bates Perkins on July 20, 1946, in Tulsa, Oklahoma,
   1-10  and together they made a home and raised a family; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, He received his bachelor's degree in mechanical
   1-12  engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1943; he served his
   1-13  country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II;
   1-14  and
   1-15        WHEREAS, A retired employee of Exxon and Carter Oil Company,
   1-16  this distinguished gentleman had performed his duties with
   1-17  exemplary attention to detail; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, A prominent civic leader, Mr. Campbell had lived
   1-19  in Pecan Plantation since 1985; he was a former member of the
   1-20  Pecan Plantation board of directors and for seven years was a
   1-21  member of the Pecan Plantation ambulance crew; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, A man of deep religious convictions, he was a
   1-23  member of the First Presbyterian Church in Granbury where he was
    2-1  active in the Presbyterian Synod and served as an elder and a
    2-2  member of the choir; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, A man who believed in giving back to his community,
    2-4  Jack Campbell was active in Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts; he was
    2-5  also a former board member of People Helping People and of the
    2-6  Comanche Chordsmen; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and compassion, he
    2-8  gave unselfishly of his time to others; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, His wisdom, warmth, sense of humor, and valued
   2-10  counsel will not be forgotten by those with whom he lived and
   2-11  worked; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-13  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
   2-14  members of his family:  his wife, Dorothy Campbell; his sons,
   2-15  Brooks Campbell, Ken Campbell, and Harley Campbell; his daughter,
   2-16  Gloria Wilson; his brothers, James Campbell and Thomas Campbell;
   2-17  his sister, Carolyn Vance; and his eight grandchildren and
   2-18  great-grandchild; and, be it further
   2-19        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his
   2-20  family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
   2-21  and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-22  John B. "Jack" Campbell.
