    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Members of the Retired State Employees Association
    1-3  will be meeting in Austin on March 21, 1995; they will be visiting
    1-4  the Senate Chamber at that time, and the Texas Senate is very
    1-5  pleased to welcome them; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The organization was founded on July 14, 1977, for
    1-7  the purpose of enhancing and improving the status, benefits, and
    1-8  morale of retired state employees; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, In honor of their visit to the State Capitol, the
   1-10  Texas Senate is delighted to recognize March 21, 1995, as Retired
   1-11  State Employees Association Day; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Association members have several legislative
   1-13  objectives that they want to see supported by their elected
   1-14  officials; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Their primary interests this year are to continue
   1-16  to protect their health care coverage as retirees, to oppose any
   1-17  attempts to use funds in the  retirement trust fund, to oppose any
   1-18  reduction in the state matching percentage of current employees
   1-19  salaries going into the retirement fund, and to support the
   1-20  inclusion of retirees in any percentage increase provided by the
   1-21  legislature for active employees; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Retired state employees as a group have earned the
   1-23  respect and admiration of their colleagues throughout their careers;
    2-1  they have contributed immensely to the growth and progress of their
    2-2  state; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, It is only proper that these retirees be granted
    2-4  the respect and approbation that they deserve after rendering many
    2-5  excellent years of service to the State of Texas; now, therefore,
    2-6  be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-8  74th Legislature, hereby commend and applaud the Retired State
    2-9  Employees Association for their distinguished service to the
   2-10  State of Texas; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-12  the association as an expression of the highest esteem of the
   2-13  Texas Senate.
