    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The community of Tawakoni has opened its heart to
    1-3  one of its young residents, eight-year-old Melissa Hopson, who was
    1-4  recently diagnosed as having the earliest stages of cancer of the
    1-5  bone marrow; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Her doctors are recommending a bone marrow
    1-7  transplant for this charming second-grade student at D. C. Cannon
    1-8  Elementary School that offers her a splendid chance for recovery;
    1-9  and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Popular among her classmates and teachers, the
   1-11  beloved youngster has always been a source of joy and pride to
   1-12  her family; she is always bright and cheerful; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Blessed with a friendly disposition and warm
   1-14  nature, Melissa is cherished by her many friends; she has an
   1-15  outgoing personality paired with a wholehearted interest in
   1-16  everything she pursues; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Her optimistic outlook and positive approach
   1-18  have been a source of strength and pride to her family; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Melissa's neighbors and friends have scheduled
   1-20  several fundraisers and a blood drive, and a bank account has
   1-21  been set up named the Melissa Hopson Medical Fund to help offset
   1-22  medical costs; already over $5,000 have been raised; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The brave young girl with the enchanting smile
    2-1  has just begun to experience what true community means as the
    2-2  whole town rallies around her; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, The outpouring of help, love, and support for
    2-4  Melissa should show her that she is very dear to all those in
    2-5  her community; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  74th Legislature, hereby extend its best wishes to Melissa Hopson
    2-8  for a speedy recovery; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-10  her as a token of the high esteem of the Texas Senate.
