    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride
    1-3  in recognizing the Simpson Creek Extension Homemakers Club of
    1-4  San Saba County on the grand occasion of its 60th anniversary
    1-5  which was celebrated March 15, 1995; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The Simpson Creek Extension Homemakers Club
    1-7  of San Saba County was organized by Mrs. Etta Ringglold on
    1-8  March 31, 1935, in the home of Mrs. Walker Kirkpatrick; there
    1-9  were 15 charter members and by 1936 membership had grown to
   1-10  over 30; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, In 1938, a clubhouse was built in a community
   1-12  effort of volunteer labor and donations, and over the years, the
   1-13  club sponsored a number of civic projects, including a quilt fair
   1-14  and the San Saba County Pecan Food Show; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Club members have hosted annual Christmas parties
   1-16  for their families and Thanksgiving feasts; in the summers, homemade
   1-17  ice cream parties have been enjoyed by many; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, This year the club has 17 active members and is part
   1-19  of an on-going project of the Texas Agricultural Extension Service;
   1-20  the current advisor is Joyce Marshall and programs are offered on
   1-21  wellness, legislation, leadership, cultural arts, and natural
   1-22  resources; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The Simpson Creek Extension Homemakers Club has been
    2-1  a source of strength to the community for many years and has made
    2-2  invaluable contributions to the residents of San Saba County; now,
    2-3  therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  74th Legislature, hereby commend the members of this outstanding
    2-6  club and extend congratulations and best wishes to them on the
    2-7  occasion of the club's 60th anniversary; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
    2-9  for them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
