    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly recognizes
    1-3  the Cleburne High School girls basketball team for winning the
    1-4  Class 4A State Championship in Austin on March 4, 1995; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Showing versatility inside and outside, the
    1-6  Cleburne Lady Yellowjackets maintained their composure as they
    1-7  halted a late rally from their opponents, the Silsbee Lady Tigers,
    1-8  to capture the state title with a 55-50 victory; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Playing very aggressive defense all season, the
   1-10  Lady Yellowjackets capitalized on their trademark to win 36 of
   1-11  their 38 games for an impressive overall record; their only losses
   1-12  came from a 5A team in their season opener and from the nation's
   1-13  sixth-ranked team at a holiday tournament in Alaska; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Recognized by their opponents as a very balanced
   1-15  team, the Lady Yellowjackets have excellent perimeter shooters, an
   1-16  outstanding inside game, and players who can come off the bench; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, A close-knit group, the Lady Yellowjackets work well
   1-18  together as a team applying unrelenting defensive pressure and an
   1-19  aggressive style of play to overpower their competitors; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, The phenomenal success of the Cleburne High School
   1-21  girls basketball team can be attributed to the dedication and skill
   1-22  of the players and the inspiration and guidance of their coaches;
   1-23  and
    2-1        WHEREAS, The players, Mary Rochelle, Kalani Ross, Kelli Tull,
    2-2  DeAnne Fagan, Wendie Bullard, Lily Glick, Amy Yates, Melanie Oppel,
    2-3  Kim Lummus, Brei' Silvia, Amy Lavender, Kristen Shewmake, and
    2-4  Megan Parker, and Coach Judy Brown and her assistants, Paige Younger
    2-5  and Bill Rehl have brought pride and honor to themselves, their
    2-6  school, and their community, and they are truly worthy of
    2-7  legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  74th Legislature, hereby commend and applaud the Cleburne Lady
   2-10  Yellowjackets on their great victory and extend congratulations
   2-11  to the coaches and each of the team players; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be presented to
   2-13  them as a memento of their Class 4A State Basketball Championship.
