    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
    1-3  recognize the Best-Southwest Partnership for its outstanding
    1-4  contributions to the citizens of Dallas County; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The partnership was created over eight years ago
    1-6  when the Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville, and Lancaster chambers
    1-7  of commerce joined together to encourage and promote economic
    1-8  development in Dallas County; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The goals of the Best-Southwest Partnership are to
   1-10  produce updated, accurate information materials on the area, to
   1-11  act as a resource for the development of available property in the
   1-12  area, and to create joint marketing programs to promote the assets
   1-13  of the participating entities; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The partnership is designed to benefit the
   1-15  participating cities by promoting a spirit of cooperation,
   1-16  providing a positive identity for the market area, and fostering
   1-17  an economy of scope and scale; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, This ingenious program is in the interest of the
   1-19  participating cities and benefits them by promoting the area as
   1-20  a trade area with a combined population of 115,000 and with an
   1-21  accessible labor force within a 30-minute driving time radius; now,
   1-22  therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-1  74th Legislature, hereby commend the Best-Southwest Partnership
    2-2  for its cooperative approach to economic development; and, be it
    2-3  further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
    2-5  partnership as an expression of the high esteem of the Texas Senate.
