No. 483 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas is proud to recognize Leadership 1-3 Southwest for its excellent contributions to the future of the 1-4 Southwest Dallas area; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The purpose of Leadership Southwest is to provide 1-6 knowledge, development, and community involvement opportunities 1-7 for tomorrow's leaders; through the joint efforts of the Cedar Hill, 1-8 DeSoto, Duncanville, Lancaster, and Oak Cliff chambers of commerce, 1-9 Leadership Southwest has served area leaders for the past 11 years; 1-10 and 1-11 WHEREAS, Participants in the Leadership Southwest program are 1-12 exposed to the most critical community issues including education, 1-13 economic development, transportation, health care and human services, 1-14 the arts, volunteerism, law enforcement and the justice system, and 1-15 quality of life; they receive hands-on experience relating to each 1-16 topic; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The participants represent a cross section of the 1-18 community and each class composed of 30 to 40 students per year is 1-19 made up of individuals who seek to learn more and to give more to 1-20 the community in which they serve; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Graduates of Leadership Southwest provide a rich pool 1-22 of leaders for the future of their communities; typically, graduates 1-23 become an integral part of the civic, business, and professional 2-1 communities by serving on local boards and commissions; and 2-2 WHEREAS, The Leadership Southwest program benefits the Southwest 2-3 Dallas area by assuring its future; by expanding the leadership 2-4 skills of its participants, the program offers them the opportunity 2-5 to make a significant contribution to the future of Dallas, 2-6 Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville, and Lancaster; now, therefore, 2-7 be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 74th Legislature, hereby commend the Leadership Southwest program 2-10 for its notable and visionary work in providing for the future of 2-11 the Southwest Dallas area; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an 2-13 expression of the admiration and appreciation of the Texas Senate. 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 President of the Senate 2-16 I hereby certify that the above 2-17 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-18 on March 22, 1995. 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Secretary of the Senate 2-21 ______________________________________ 2-22 Member, Texas Senate
