1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 In Memory
1-3 of
1-4 Mary Betty Galt Graydon
1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
1-6 of Austin in mourning the loss of Mary Betty Galt Graydon who died
1-7 March 8, 1995, at the age of 72; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Mary Betty Galt
1-9 graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the School of Commerce at
1-10 Northwestern University; and
1-11 WHEREAS, An accomplished seamstress, she was dedicated to
1-12 her work in sewing, needlework, embroidery, smocking, and quilting;
1-13 she belonged to several organizations relating to these hobbies;
1-14 and
1-15 WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished lady, Mrs. Graydon
1-16 was respected for her many accomplishments; and
1-17 WHEREAS, A well-known leader in her community, she was a
1-18 member of the Austin Women's Club, the University Ladies Club,
1-19 and the Austin Assembly; she was a former member of the Assistance
1-20 League of Austin; and
1-21 WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity,
1-22 she gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth,
1-23 and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and
2-1 WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Graydon was a member of
2-2 Covenant Presbyterian Church where she served as a Stephen Minister;
2-3 and
2-4 WHEREAS, Mary Betty Graydon was a devoted wife, mother, and
2-5 grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured
2-6 forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-8 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
2-9 bereaved family of Mary Betty Galt Graydon: her husband,
2-10 Frank D. Graydon; her sons and daughters-in-law, Galt and
2-11 Gayla Graydon and David and Peggy Graydon; and her grandchildren,
2-12 Carla J. Graydon, Michael D. Graydon, Gregory D. Graydon, and
2-13 Kathryn A. "Cassie" Graydon; and, be it further
2-14 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-15 the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
2-16 the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
2-17 so in memory of Mary Betty Graydon.
