No. 501 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Verdie Cain Humble 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens 1-6 of Sterling County in mourning the loss of Verdie Cain Humble who 1-7 died February 3, 1995, at the age of 92; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Born March 13, 1902, in Runnels County, Verdie Cain 1-9 married Tom Humble on August 5, 1925, in Seminole; the couple moved 1-10 from Whiteface to Sterling County in 1934; and 1-11 WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, Verdie Humble was dedicated to 1-12 her work as a homemaker and was respected in the community for her 1-13 many accomplishments; and 1-14 WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, she 1-15 gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and 1-16 valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and 1-17 WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Humble was a member of 1-18 the First Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher for many years 1-19 until her retirement at the age of 84; she was also a director of 1-20 the Women's Missionary Society; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Verdie Humble was a devoted wife, mother, and 1-22 grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured 1-23 forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved 2-3 family of Verdie Cain Humble: her son and daughter-in-law, Bill 2-4 and Pinkey Humble; her daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie and 2-5 Tommie Augustine and Lora and Tom Rawlings; her sister, Iola Henry; 2-6 and her nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and, be it 2-7 further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-9 members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the 2-10 Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so 2-11 in memory of Verdie Cain Humble. 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 President of the Senate 2-14 I hereby certify that the above 2-15 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-16 on March 21, 1995, by a rising vote. 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Secretary of the Senate 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Member, Texas Senate
