    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing James Cervenka, who was recently selected as the 1994
    1-4  Paramedic of the Year at the Williamson County Emergency Medical
    1-5  Service awards ceremony; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Service is a vital public service;
    1-7  access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival
    1-8  and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury;
    1-9  and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The members of Emergency Medical Service teams are
   1-11  ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day,
   1-12  seven days a week; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, A resident of Taylor, James Cervenka served as a
   1-14  volunteer medic and First Responder for 11 years before becoming
   1-15  a full-time paramedic with Emergency Medical Service; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman who is well known for his
   1-17  courage and dependability, James Cervenka is a leader in his
   1-18  community and serves as the president of the Granger Volunteer
   1-19  Fire Department and as a member of Bartlett Volunteer Emergency
   1-20  Medical Service; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Mr. Cervenka's Paramedic of the Year award is an
   1-22  honor bestowed on him by his peers for his exceptional abilities
   1-23  and his many contributions to the Williamson County Emergency
    2-1  Medical Service system; now, therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-3  74th Legislature, hereby commend James Cervenka for his superior
    2-4  service to the Williamson County community and extend to him
    2-5  congratulations on earning the Paramedic of the Year award; and,
    2-6  be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
    2-8  as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
