    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                         Patricia Stehr Peters
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
    1-6  of Bryan in mourning the loss of Patricia Stehr Peters who died
    1-7  March 9, 1995, at the age of 59; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born July 18, 1935, in Dallas, Patricia Stehr
    1-9  attended Mount Holyoke College and graduated from the Latin
   1-10  American Institute of The University of Texas at Austin; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished lady, Mrs. Peters
   1-12  was respected in the community for her many accomplishments and
   1-13  was a well-known cultural, religious, and civic leader; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, She was a trustee of the Bryan Public Library for
   1-15  10 years and was president of the Opera and Performing Arts Society
   1-16  and its guild; in 1994, the society named the Patricia S. Peters
   1-17  Lagniappe Lecture Series in her honor; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, She received the D. A. "Andy" Anderson Award for
   1-19  lifetime contributions to the arts and was selected as a Woman of
   1-20  Distinction by the Bluebonnet Girl Scout Council; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, she
   1-22  gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and
   1-23  valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Patricia Peters was a member of
    2-2  First Presbyterian Church where she was a Ruling Elder and chaired
    2-3  the Finance Committee; she was a choir member and soloist and
    2-4  organizer and first director of the children's choir; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, Patricia Peters was a devoted wife, mother, and
    2-6  grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured
    2-7  forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to
   2-10  the bereaved family of Patricia Stehr Peters:  her husband,
   2-11  Marshall Bookman Peters; her daughters and son-in-law,
   2-12  Karen Ellen and William Brian Anderson, Laura Stehr Peters, and
   2-13  Eileen Bookman Peters; her mother and stepfather, William Wilson
   2-14  and Selma Stehr Newton; her mother-in-law, Ellen Bookman Peters;
   2-15  and her grandchild; and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-17  members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-18  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-19  in memory of Patricia Peters.
