    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud
    1-3  to recognize H. B. Skelton on the momentous occasion of his
    1-4  retirement from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Pardons
    1-5  and Paroles Division on March 31, 1995, after over 30 years of
    1-6  outstanding state service; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, He began his employment on September 12, 1968, in
    1-8  Waco, Texas, as a District Parole Officer for the Texas Board of
    1-9  Pardons and Paroles; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, A public-spirited gentleman, he has served the
   1-11  Board of Pardons and Paroles in many different positions; he
   1-12  has been a District Parole Officer, a Hearing Officer, a Unit
   1-13  Supervisor, and a Region Supervisor; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, On September 1, 1978, the board created Region 8,
   1-15  and Mr. Skelton became the Region Supervisor and has remained in
   1-16  that capacity since that time; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, H. B. Skelton has never forgotten what it was like
   1-18  to be a "line officer"; he always believed that parole officers
   1-19  should protect their communities by keeping violent criminals off
   1-20  the streets; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, A model supervisor, Mr. Skelton was never too busy
   1-22  to listen to his employees and his clients or their families; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Noted for his honesty and integrity, he has earned
    2-1  the respect and friendship of his colleagues; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Vitally interested in the welfare and progress of
    2-3  his fellowman, this dedicated officer has contributed enormous
    2-4  amounts of time and energy to his job and community; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, Mr. Skelton's future retirement plans include
    2-6  camping and fishing; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, The people of the State of Texas have a deep
    2-8  appreciation of Mr. Skelton's unselfish gifts of time, talent,
    2-9  and effort; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-11  74th Legislature, hereby commend the career of service of
   2-12  H. B. Skelton and wish him many happy years of retirement; and,
   2-13  be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-15  Mr. Skelton as an expression of the high esteem of the
   2-16  Texas Senate.
