    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                              Patt Laine
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
    1-6  of Texas City in mourning the loss of one of the city's most
    1-7  beloved citizens, Patt Laine, who died February 23, 1995; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A Texas City resident for 38 years, Patt was born
    1-9  April 24, 1931, in Galveston; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, First and foremost a loving wife and devoted mother,
   1-11  Patt created a happy home filled with love and laughter for her
   1-12  husband of 43 years, Dale, and her five children; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Active on behalf of causes dear to her heart,
   1-14  Mrs. Laine was an invaluable asset to the Bay Area Republican
   1-15  Women and devoted untold hours to the advancement of the Grand
   1-16  Old Party and the election of its candidates; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Staunch in her belief in Christ's healing message
   1-18  of love and redemption, Patt was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic
   1-19  Church; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, An expert in the art of finding the best bargain
   1-21  available, Patt was an avid shopper whose forays to outlet malls
   1-22  from here to Colorado were legendary; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Her high spirits were infectious and brightened
    2-1  the day for all who came in contact with her; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Patt Laine was a woman of extraordinary personal
    2-3  attributes, and her loss will be keenly felt; now, therefore,
    2-4  be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-7  members of her family:  her husband, Dale; her children, Amber
    2-8  and Dennis Jennings, Nancy Bennette and Mike King, Denise and
    2-9  Darel Beene, Dale E. and Cathy Laine, and David and Colleen Laine;
   2-10  and her grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-12  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
   2-13  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
   2-14  day, it do so in memory of Patt Laine.
