    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, It is indeed an honor for the Texas Senate to
    1-3  recognize the Lincoln High School basketball team for winning the
    1-4  Class 4A State Championship; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Lincoln Bumblebees of Port Arthur triumphed over
    1-6  a formidable opponent in overtime by edging the Anderson Trojans of
    1-7  Austin 57 to 56 to win their seventh state championship; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Displaying a strong defense that held the Trojans to
    1-9  a 21-21 tie at the half, the Bumblebees took control in the second
   1-10  half and forced the Trojans to shoot from the outside; after scoring
   1-11  the first 10 points in overtime, the Bumblebees held on to the lead
   1-12  until the final buzzer; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, In front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Erwin Center
   1-14  in Austin, the Lincoln Bumblebees displayed their season-long
   1-15  competitive spirit and refused to allow the pressure to affect their
   1-16  game; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, The remarkable success of the Lincoln Bumblebees
   1-18  is a tribute to the dedication and skill of the players and the
   1-19  inspiration and guidance of their coach, Andre Boutte; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Highly acclaimed for its magnificent accomplishments,
   1-21  the Lincoln High School basketball team placed three players,
   1-22  Keith Harris, Steven Jackson, and Dominic Hardie, on the All-State
   1-23  Team; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Boasting a season record of 35 wins against three
    2-2  losses, the Bumblebees won 27 straight games; these talented young
    2-3  athletes merit legislative recognition for their superb efforts and
    2-4  true championship form; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the Port Arthur
    2-7  Lincoln High School basketball team on its splendid achievement;
    2-8  and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-10  the Lincoln Bumblebees as an expression of the admiration of the
   2-11  Texas Senate with best wishes for continued success in the years
   2-12  ahead.
