    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                          Edward Lewis Wollam
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
    1-6  of Danbury in mourning the loss of Edward Lewis Wollam who died
    1-7  March 8, 1995, at the age of 74; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, He was born in Danbury on January 5, 1921, to
    1-9  Nellie Grace Francis and Perry Benson Wollam, Sr.; he was a
   1-10  lifetime resident of the city; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, A man with strong religious convictions, Ed Wollam
   1-12  was an active member of the First United Methodist Church; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, He served his country honorably as a corporal in the
   1-14  United States Marine Corps while stationed in the South Pacific; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, A leader in his community, he was the Chairman of the
   1-16  Board of Commissioners of Danbury Drainage District 8; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Always active in politics, Mr. Wollam was a former
   1-18  Precinct Chairman of the Brazoria County Democratic Party; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Greatly loved by his fellow townsmen, he was a rice
   1-20  farmer until last year; friends remember his genuine friendliness
   1-21  and mention that he never met a stranger; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, An advocate of economic growth, he was a charter
   1-23  member of the Brazoria County Chamber of Commerce; he also served
    2-1  his community as an officer in the Brazoria County Fair Association,
    2-2  was a member of the Texas Cattlemen's Association, was a board member
    2-3  of the Rice Council, and was a member of the Farm Bureau Association;
    2-4  and
    2-5        WHEREAS, He was a loving and devoted husband and father and
    2-6  grandfather; his absence will be keenly felt; his selfless efforts
    2-7  will touch countless lives for many years to come; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Ed Wollam leaves behind a legacy of commitment and
    2-9  service that will be remembered forever; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-11  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
   2-12  of his family:  his wife, Ginny Wollam; his son, Lloyd G. Wollam;
   2-13  his daughter, Patricia Perk; his brother, P. B. Wollam; his sisters,
   2-14  Emma Lee Keeland, Pauline Bell, Arta Bell, and Claudine Spoor; and
   2-15  his four grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his
   2-17  family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
   2-18  and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-19  Edward Lewis Wollam.
