    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas takes pride in joining the
    1-3  citizens of Crowley in proclaiming Wednesday, March 29, 1995, as
    1-4  Crowley Day at the State Capitol; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Located in southeast Tarrant County, the city was
    1-6  first settled in 1848; after the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe
    1-7  Railroad was built through the area in 1882 the community flourished;
    1-8  and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Throughout the history of Crowley, its citizens have
   1-10  been known far and wide for their generosity to those in need;
   1-11  during World War II, they set a national record for per capita
   1-12  donations to the American Red Cross war fund; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, As the nearby metropolis of Fort Worth experienced
   1-14  tremendous growth, many citizens chose to live in Crowley and
   1-15  commute to the larger city; Crowley has preserved its small town
   1-16  charm and is a wonderful place to raise a family; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Crowley became an incorporated home-rule city in 1952;
   1-18  since that time there has been a population explosion in the entire
   1-19  Metroplex area and the residents of Crowley have access to the
   1-20  benefits of a large metropolitan area without many of the drawbacks;
   1-21  and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Recently it has become the home of one of the most
   1-23  significant hospitals in the area, the famous Huguley Memorial
    2-1  Medical Center; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, The Texans who live in Crowley number about 7,200;
    2-3  school-age children are enrolled in the independent school district
    2-4  that encompasses a significant part of southern Tarrant County; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, The Dionne Bagsby All Sports Complex was recently
    2-6  built there as a result of the combined support of the Texas Parks
    2-7  and Wildlife Department, Tarrant County, and the City of Crowley;
    2-8  much of the credit for its establishment belongs to the enthusiastic
    2-9  volunteer help received from its citizenry; and
   2-10        WHEREAS, One of the Lone Star State's outstanding small cities,
   2-11  Crowley has much to offer its residents as an ideal place to live
   2-12  and to raise a family; certainly Crowley is deserving of legislative
   2-13  recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-14        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-15  74th Legislature, hereby congratulate the proud citizens of
   2-16  Crowley, Texas, as they celebrate Crowley Day on March 29, 1995;
   2-17  and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-19  City of Crowley as an expression of the highest esteem of the
   2-20  Texas Senate.
