    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing Sergeant Daniel Gaskamp of the Brenham Police
    1-4  Department, who recently received a Counter Attack on Crime award
    1-5  from the Associated Texans Against Crime; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The Associated Texans Against Crime is a statewide
    1-7  program of the nonprofit Today Foundation and is aimed at promoting
    1-8  public awareness and citizen involvement through preventive
    1-9  education, public forums, and policy research; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Community support often comes from Neighborhood
   1-11  Crime Watch, Drug Abuse Resistance Education, and citizens police
   1-12  programs--organizations through which the members are actively
   1-13  helping to fight the growing crime rate that is threatening our
   1-14  country's strength and security; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The Counter Attack on Crime awards are designed
   1-16  for individuals who are devoted to making a difference in their
   1-17  communities, whether they are ordinary citizens or police officers;
   1-18  and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Respected by his colleagues, Sergeant Gaskamp is well
   1-20  known for his dedication to the Neighborhood Crime Watch Program
   1-21  and for his superior courage and leadership; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity,
   1-23  Sergeant Gaskamp devotes his time and energy to making the
    2-1  City of Brenham a safer place in which to live, work, and raise
    2-2  families; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, An outstanding police officer, he has displayed
    2-4  expertise and sound judgment in dealing with the unique challenges
    2-5  of law enforcement duty, and he has contributed greatly to the
    2-6  security of the people of Brenham; now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-8  74th Legislature, hereby commend Sergeant Daniel Gaskamp for his
    2-9  distinguished public service and extend to him congratulations on
   2-10  earning a Counter Attack on Crime award; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
   2-12  as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
