    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                         Louise Viviano Ottea
    1-5        WHEREAS, The citizens of Mumford and Hearne were deeply
    1-6  saddened by the passing of Louise Viviano Ottea, well-known area
    1-7  columnist and humanitarian, who died December 17, 1994, at the age
    1-8  of 86; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Recognized for her warmheartedness and sympathy
   1-10  for others, the beloved individual spent her life helping those
   1-11  in need through her church work and her involvement in numerous
   1-12  charitable organizations; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Born in Robertson County on October 30, 1908,
   1-14  to Jamie and Lee Viviano, Louise spent her childhood in Bryan
   1-15  and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School; following her
   1-16  marriage to Marion M. Ottea, she returned to Robertson County
   1-17  where she remained the rest of her life; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, Mrs. Ottea was a member of
   1-19  Saint Mary's Catholic Church and was active in the altar society;
   1-20  she also volunteered her time and energies to the Mumford
   1-21  Independent School District; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Mrs. Ottea was involved in the development of
   1-23  many historical events in "The Bottom" and for many years wrote
    2-1  "The Brazos Bottom Bits" in the Hearne Democrat, keeping area
    2-2  residents informed of the events in the lives of those near and
    2-3  dear to her; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, She was interested in politics and worked
    2-5  tirelessly for the Robertson County Democratic Party; she also
    2-6  devoted untold hours during the Vietnam War working for the
    2-7  American Red Cross to connect servicemen abroad with loved
    2-8  ones at home in time of need; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, She leaves a legacy of compassion and commitment
   2-10  that will live on in the memories of her family and all whose lives
   2-11  she touched through her philanthropy; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-13  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
   2-14  family of Louise Viviano Ottea:  her son, M. M. Ottea, Jr.; her
   2-15  grandchildren, Mathis M. Ottea III, Justina Louise Herklotz,
   2-16  Monica Marie Ottea, and Felicita Michelle York; and her three
   2-17  great-grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-19  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
   2-20  the Texas Senate and, when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
   2-21  memory of Louise Ottea.
