No. 591 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, Birthdays are occasions to be joyously celebrated, 1-3 and so it was for Minnie Spiller on February 20, 1995, when she 1-4 was the guest of honor on her special day; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This being her 101st birthday, she has been privileged 1-6 to witness events most of us only read about in history books; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The blessings of her long sojourn in this world are 1-8 evident as she recalls tales of years past; known by her pet name, 1-9 "Granny" has earned respect and friendship from all who know her; 1-10 and 1-11 WHEREAS, The oldest resident at Madisonville Nursing Home, 1-12 Minnie Spiller lived most of her life on a farm and shares her fond 1-13 memories of those years with the residents and staff; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Still an active and vital member of her community, 1-15 she is noted for her exemplary enthusiasm for living each day to 1-16 the fullest; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Friends and relatives of this beloved individual 1-18 gathered at a family birthday party to honor her in a manner 1-19 befitting the event; now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-21 74th Legislature, hereby recognize Minnie Spiller as a treasured 1-22 citizen of her town and state, wishing her continued health and 1-23 happiness; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to her as a 2-2 token of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-3 ______________________________________ 2-4 President of the Senate 2-5 I hereby certify that the above 2-6 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-7 on April 3, 1995. 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 Secretary of the Senate 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 Member, Texas Senate
