By: Montford S.R. No. 599 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 J. K. Griffith 1-5 WHEREAS, The City of Morton mourned the passing of one of 1-6 the community's most respected citizens, J. K. Griffith, who died 1-7 March 12, 1995, at the age of 86; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The well-known farmer will be remembered for his 1-9 devotion to his family, his friends, and his church; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Born in Wilbarger County on February 7, 1909, 1-11 Mr. Griffith married Erma McCurry on May 26, 1934, in 1-12 Roswell, New Mexico, and the devoted couple was blessed with 1-13 a long and happy life together; and 1-14 WHEREAS, A resident of Morton since 1944, he was a 1-15 dedicated husband and father who provided a loving home for his 1-16 family; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Mr. Griffith earned the esteem and friendship of 1-18 those who were associated with him, and he will be deeply missed; 1-19 and 1-20 WHEREAS, His wise counsel and sound judgment will be 1-21 remembered with gratitude by all who were fortunate to know him; 1-22 now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-2 family of J. K. Griffith: his wife, Erma; his son, Curtis Griffith; 2-3 his sisters, Virginia Clampitt, Ruth Bluhm, and Beatrice Rogers; and 2-4 his two grandchildren; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-6 the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from 2-7 the Texas Senate, and when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in 2-8 memory of J. K.
