No. 600 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Dr. Francisco Licon 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens 1-6 of El Paso in mourning the loss of Dr. Francisco Licon who died 1-7 February 24, 1995, at the age of 77; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Dr. Francisco Licon dedicated his life to helping 1-9 the Hispanic community, particularly the Hispanic youth; his primary 1-10 mission was to create scholarships for Hispanic students; and 1-11 WHEREAS, A well-known El Paso civic leader and physician, 1-12 Dr. Licon was one of the founders of the League of United Latin 1-13 American Citizens El Paso Council 132; and 1-14 WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman, Dr. Licon 1-15 was respected in the community for his many talents and numerous 1-16 accomplishments; and 1-17 WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, compassion, and 1-18 generosity, he gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his 1-19 wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those 1-20 who knew him; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Dr. Francisco Licon was a devoted husband and father, 1-22 and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his 1-23 family and many friends; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved 2-3 family of Dr. Francisco Licon; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-5 the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from 2-6 the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do 2-7 so in memory of Dr. Francisco Licon. 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the above 2-11 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-12 on April 3, 1995, by a rising vote. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
