S.R. No. 603 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to join 1-3 Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and other universities across 1-4 the country in celebrating the month of March, 1995, as Women's 1-5 History Month; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The new Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi 1-7 Women's Center for Education and Service, the Assistant Dean 1-8 of Students-Multicultural Affairs, and the University Library 1-9 are celebrating Women's History Month with a number of special 1-10 programs that are scheduled throughout March; cosponsors of the 1-11 programs include the Sociology Club, the Nursing Department, and 1-12 the University Outreach Department; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Women have made great strides over the course of this 1-14 century and have overcome many long-standing cultural limitations 1-15 in the professional world and in the fields of education and 1-16 politics; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has planned 1-18 programs to provide the public with an opportunity to express 1-19 appreciation to those women who made today's standards possible 1-20 for us all and who fought with such perseverance for equal rights 1-21 and privileges; and 1-22 WHEREAS, The programs at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi 1-23 will conclude on March 31 with a special celebration of the 75th 2-1 Anniversary of Women's Suffrage in the United States; and 2-2 WHEREAS, It is hoped that celebration of Women's History 2-3 Month will build a greater awareness and appreciation of the many 2-4 accomplishments of women over the past century and of the numerous 2-5 contributions they have made to our country through their leadership 2-6 and dedication; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 74th Legislature, hereby commend Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi 2-9 for the activities it has planned in celebration of Women's History 2-10 Month and encourage communities across Texas to observe this special 2-11 month; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-13 Dean Paul Hain, College of Arts and Humanities, Texas A&M 2-14 University-Corpus Christi; Dr. Miriam Wagenschein, Interim 2-15 Director, Women's Center for Education and Service; and the 2-16 Honorable Wilhelmina Delco, distinguished former member, 2-17 Texas House of Representatives. 2-18 Truan 2-19 Armbrister Henderson Ratliff 2-20 Barrientos Leedom Rosson 2-21 Bivins Lucio Shapiro 2-22 Brown Luna Sibley 2-23 Cain Madla Sims 2-24 Ellis Moncrief Turner 2-25 Gallegos Montford Wentworth 3-1 Galloway Nelson West 3-2 Harris Nixon Whitmire 3-3 Haywood Patterson Zaffirini 3-4 Bullock, President of the Senate 3-5 ______________________________________ 3-6 President of the Senate 3-7 I hereby certify that the above 3-8 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-9 on April 3, 1995. 3-10 ______________________________________ 3-11 Secretary of the Senate 3-12 ______________________________________ 3-13 Dean of the Senate
