    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
    1-3  recognizing Dr. Skip Casey who has been selected for the Citizen
    1-4  of the Year Award in Coleman County; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Well known for his outstanding work, Dr. Casey
    1-6  is the superintendent of Coleman County Independent School
    1-7  District; Dr. Casey was selected for inclusion in the Most
    1-8  Prominent Educators of Texas and was selected as Superintendent
    1-9  of the Year for Region XV; he was also chosen as one of the five
   1-10  finalists for Superintendent of the Year for the State of Texas
   1-11  in 1990; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, His ideas on education have received statewide
   1-13  recognition, and he has received national acclaim for his
   1-14  Cooperative Alternative Program which has been copied in
   1-15  districts across the state; he was responsible for incorporating
   1-16  the Latch Key Program and the Student Academic Competition into
   1-17  the Coleman Independent School District System; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, A highly respected administrator and leader who
   1-19  generously devotes time and energy to civic affairs, Dr. Casey
   1-20  is active in the Rotary Club and the Coleman Rodeo Association;
   1-21  he served as director of the chamber of commerce and was first
   1-22  chairman of the Coleman County Crimestoppers Organization; he
   1-23  serves on the steering committee for Coleman County Family
    2-1  Outreach and the advisory council for the Texas War on Drugs;
    2-2  and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Innovative and resourceful, he has been of
    2-4  tremendous help to the young people of Coleman County, providing
    2-5  them with high-quality education and support; through his efforts
    2-6  and perseverance, students have been awarded scholarships and
    2-7  have been encouraged to further their education; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Dr. Casey's concern for others is legendary, and
    2-9  he has played a major role in the betterment of Coleman County;
   2-10  and
   2-11        WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman, Dr. Casey
   2-12  is a source of strength to many, and his worthy accomplishments
   2-13  reflect his dedication and his commitment to his fellowman; now,
   2-14  therefore, be it
   2-15        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-16  74th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Skip Casey on his
   2-17  exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to him
   2-18  on his selection as Citizen of the Year; and, be it further
   2-19        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
   2-20  for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
