    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  join Saint George Episcopal School in recognizing Margie Boggus
    1-4  for her 40 years of exceptional service to the citizens of
    1-5  San Antonio; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, A gala in honor of her birthday was held on
    1-7  March 11, 1995, at the Sheraton Fiesta San Antonio benefitting
    1-8  the building fund of the school Mrs. Boggus began four decades
    1-9  ago; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Since 1954, the esteemed educator has nurtured
   1-11  San Antonio children with her loving concern and her firm,
   1-12  consistent approach; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, A native daughter, she was born and educated in
   1-14  Texas and has remained a loyal and patriotic citizen; her love
   1-15  for her country and her faith in God have strongly supported her
   1-16  through the years; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, While completing her master's degree in education
   1-18  from The University of Texas at San Antonio, Margie Boggus was
   1-19  also taking care of her family; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, In 1954, with the help of her mother, Nora Butler,
   1-21  she founded Pilgrim School with one class of 18 children; for the
   1-22  next 18 years, the school continued to grow and by 1972 had an
   1-23  enrollment of almost 300 students; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, As suitable space became a problem with a growing
    2-2  attendance, Mrs. Boggus merged the staff and students of the Pilgrim
    2-3  School with the grounds and facilities of the Saint George Episcopal
    2-4  Church; the school offers instruction for pre-school through the
    2-5  eighth grade to over 500 children; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, The small progressive private school has withstood
    2-7  40 years of cultural and educational change while still maintaining
    2-8  high educational standards; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, Mrs. Boggus has based her educational philosophy
   2-10  on a triangle that consists of home, school, and church; the parts
   2-11  of the triangle work together to develop a child's values; and
   2-12        WHEREAS, Saint George Episcopal School has an excellent
   2-13  staff of teachers, many of whom have been there over 20 years;
   2-14  parents have been closely involved with various fundraising
   2-15  projects that have paid for all major improvements to the campus
   2-16  and classrooms; now, therefore, be it
   2-17        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-18  74th Legislature, hereby commend Margie Boggus for providing
   2-19  an excellent educational environment for the students of Saint
   2-20  George Episcopal School and extend best wishes to her for
   2-21  continued success in the future; and, be it further
   2-22        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-23  her as an expression of the admiration and high regard of the
   2-24  Texas Senate.
