    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Stephenville Yellow Jackets won back-to-back
    1-3  State 4A football championships in 1993 and 1994 with a combined
    1-4  record of 32 wins and 0 losses; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, In 1993 the Yellow Jackets set the State 4A scoring
    1-6  record with 641 points and led the nation in total offense with
    1-7  7,241 yards; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, In 1994 the Yellow Jackets broke their own State 4A
    1-9  scoring record with 667 points and again led the nation in total
   1-10  offense with 7,480 yards; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, The 1993 and 1994 Yellow Jackets rank second and
   1-12  third on the all-time national record list for total offense; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Under the superb coaching and leadership of Head Coach
   1-14  Art Briles and his dedicated staff, the Yellow Jackets have attained
   1-15  these preeminent and distinguished accomplishments through hard work,
   1-16  dedication, and supreme teamwork; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, The Yellow Jackets' success is not limited to the
   1-18  playing field and for 1993 and 1994 the varsity football players
   1-19  maintained an overall grade average of 90-plus; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Besides providing thrills and excitement for their
   1-21  legion of loyal fans, including the now famous "can fans," the
   1-22  Yellow Jackets have focused state and national attention on
   1-23  Stephenville High School, the City of Stephenville, and Erath
    2-1  County; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, It is indeed fitting and appropriate that the
    2-3  Texas Senate recognize the achievements of the Stephenville Yellow
    2-4  Jacket Football Team; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby salute and extend sincere congratulations
    2-7  to Coach Art Briles and the Stephenville Yellow Jacket Football
    2-8  Team; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-10  Coach Art Briles, his staff, and the Yellow Jacket Football Team
   2-11  as an expression of high esteem from the Texas Senate.
