    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is pleased to send congratulations
    1-3  to the Jasper High School girls powerlifting team for winning the
    1-4  state championship in Austin on March 25, 1995; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Only the fourth year the girls powerlifting
    1-6  team has been in existence, the team has finished second in each
    1-7  of the previous two years; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, In capturing their first state title, the Jasper
    1-9  High School girls powerlifting team featured a strong group of
   1-10  young women who displayed the conditioning and exceptional stamina
   1-11  necessary to capture a championship title; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, The seasoned Jasper team showed their mettle and
   1-13  athletic prowess during their inspired performances; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The Jasper High School girls powerlifting team
   1-15  has been under the able instruction of Coach Denise Quick who has
   1-16  developed a fine group of athletes who have achieved many personal
   1-17  bests; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, For their superb efforts and true championship
   1-19  form these talented young athletes merit legislative recognition:
   1-20  Nakisha Parks, Tamara Bean, Christan Musgrove, Amber Weaver,
   1-21  Rose White, Jessica Whitton, Emmy Dean, Kim Cochran, Trina Parker,
   1-22  Brashanna Hafford, Merdith Shaw, Rhonda Wilson, Manzie Hall,
   1-23  Talove Chaney, Nicole Hollis, T'wana Jones, and Annilia Wright;
    2-1  now, therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-3  74th Legislature, hereby commend the Jasper High School girls
    2-4  powerlifting team and Coach Denise Quick for winning the state
    2-5  powerlifting championship for 1995; and, be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-7  the team members as a memento of this important achievement with
    2-8  all best wishes for continued success from the Texas Senate.
