1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, Owen H. Ivie is retiring as general manager of
1-3 the Colorado River Municipal Water District after 30 years of
1-4 exceptional service, and the Texas Senate is proud to recognize
1-5 this distinguished Texan for his notable accomplishments; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Formerly a member of the Freese and Nichols
1-7 consulting engineers staff during the original Lake Thomas and
1-8 Big Spring/Odessa pipeline project, Mr. Ivie joined the Colorado
1-9 River Municipal Water District in 1953; and
1-10 WHEREAS, After being promoted to assistant general manager
1-11 in 1958, he became general manager in 1965, and his administration
1-12 has been marked by major achievements, including Lake Spence,
1-13 Lake O. H. Ivie, and the Ward County well field; and
1-14 WHEREAS, The most ambitious project under Mr. Ivie's
1-15 administration has been the completion of the newly constructed
1-16 Ivie Pipeline; the 157-mile pipeline represents nearly 20 years
1-17 of work to obtain Lake O. H. Ivie in order to utilize its water
1-18 for the central and western end of the district system; and
1-19 WHEREAS, Throughout his notable career, Mr. Ivie has
1-20 earned the admiration and appreciation of his colleagues for
1-21 his leadership and innovative ideas; and
1-22 WHEREAS, The esteemed individual recently received an award
1-23 from the Texas Water Conservation Association at its 51st annual
2-1 meeting in San Antonio in recognition of outstanding dedication,
2-2 leadership, unselfish service, and accomplishment to the benefit
2-3 of the association and the state in water resources development;
2-4 Mr. Ivie was also named Outstanding Conservationist in 1985 by
2-5 the organization; now, therefore, be it
2-6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-7 74th Legislature, hereby commend Owen H. Ivie for his invaluable
2-8 contributions to the Colorado River Municipal Water District and
2-9 extend best wishes to him for a most rewarding retirement; and,
2-10 be it further
2-11 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-12 Mr. Ivie as an expression of the gratitude of the Texas Senate.
