    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                              Tom Barnes
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
    1-6  citizens of Lubbock in mourning the loss of Tom Barnes who died
    1-7  March 20, 1995, at the age of 71; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born October 9, 1923, in Riley Springs, Tom Barnes
    1-9  served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean
   1-10  conflict; he married Zona M. Wolf on January 21, 1946; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Mr. Barnes was dedicated to his work as a peace
   1-12  officer with the Lubbock Police Department and the Texas Department
   1-13  of Public Safety until his retirement in 1977; he then worked in
   1-14  the private polygraph business until 1994; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman, Tom Barnes
   1-16  was respected in the community for his many accomplishments; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
   1-18  gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
   1-19  and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him;
   1-20  and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Tom Barnes was a devoted husband, father, and
   1-22  grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
   1-23  forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-2  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-3  bereaved family of Tom Barnes:  his wife, Zona Wolf Barnes; his
    2-4  daughters, Donna Unger and Pamela Watts; his son, Douglas Nesmith;
    2-5  his brothers, Bill Gross and Don Gross; and his five grandchildren
    2-6  and great-granddaughter; and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
    2-8  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
    2-9  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-10  in memory of Tom Barnes.
